Why I hate blogging

October 27, 2011- The last blog post along my 22,000-mile bicycle tour.  I believe it was in Phoenix, AZ when some scoundrel dug through my luggage and stole my iPhone, debit card and $60.  I am currently in Houston, TX- that's 48 days, 3 states, 5 major cities, 20 school assemblies and approximately 2,100 miles without posting a blog.  Not to say that nothing happen along that stretch.  Plenty did, but it's just that I hate blogging.  Before I go any further, I guess I should catch you guys up on everything that has happened over the past month and a half from Phoenix, AZ to Houston, TX.

I met the Mayor of Tucson, AZ

I rode through the New Mexico desert

I rode to school with the students of Mesilla Elementary in Las Cruces, NM

I held an assembly at Mesilla Elementary, as well as numerous others

I was an honorary firefighter at the Artesia Fire Department (Calendar coming soon)

I spent an incredible Thanksgiving in Dallas, TX

And they never let me forget where I was or what football team I should be rooting for

I went shopping on Black Friday in Krum, TX.. and LOVED IT!

And that brings us to last night, where I made Tamales with my family in Alvin, TX

Each one of these pictures could have been a blog entry within itself!  But I chose not to write about them.  Why?  I already told you, I hate blogging.  It's not that I don't like writing though, I love it.  I actually have 6 blogs written under my 'drafts' that I have yet to published, with titles ranging from 'Tim Tebow isn't Perfect' to 'Top 10 places I do my laundry on the Road'.  Great posts within themselves that will probably never be viewed by you.

I noticed my lack of blogging a week ago and asked myself, 'why do I blog?'  And after some deep thought and meditation, I concluded that the only reason I wrote a blog was to entertain people that were following my journey.  Then I asked myself, 'why do I write?' and the list was endless.  The number one reason was to express and define my own thoughts and ideas more clearly.  And for me, when I expressed and defined my thoughts and ideas through the public forum of a blog, my definitions began to mold and cater to my audience for their entertainment, tainting my clarity.  I wasn't writing the blogs I wanted to write, but rather about the blogs I thought you wanted to read.  And that's why I never wanted to write because it wasn't what I wanted to do.  Maybe I was selfish or maybe I was lazy.  But from now on, I will write what I want to write about and if you gain something from it, that is great.  I will continue to write in my blog for myself, and publish them for you.  What do you do for yourself, that you don't like to share with others?  And why do you read blogs??
